HELP…. "I AM THE JAM BETWEEN TWO SLICES OF SPONGY CONCRETE”

I can not be held responsible for someone else's usage.

I value my tenants and do not want them to leave.

They are struggling and can not afford loaded water bills.

I can not give my tenants 90 days notice to leave; taps left running for three months will bankrupt me.

The wastewater charges I have to pay are higher than the water charges, and I did not use the water.

I WENT OVERSEAS FOR A YEAR AND LET OUT MY HOUSE.
NOW I WANT TO LIVE IN MY HOUSE AND METROWATER
WANT   $1200.00 OR THEY WILL CUT OFF MY WATER.
I HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN IN N.Z. TO USE WATER.

My rental income is being chandelled into Metrowater pockets.

Maybe you could have a direct link to Auckland City Council and councilors the can get email and an email protest may help keep it in the limelight not to mention a link to the government members of Parliament, protest heading that way wouldn't hurt I will continue to write to all concerned my self. As a landlord I find the extra expense to be very large, and will one day lead to rental properties being a liability to own, as the rent would be too high, with charges, to make an adequate return on investment the only way to stop the council is to organize a total boycott on all rate payments, water and normal until they understand they must come to heel like proposition 13, in California, some time ago that changed the climate forever, increasing charges is no longer a viable option.
thank you for you site

WE RENT WHY SHOULD WE BE PAYING FOR WATER THE BILL GOES TO THE LANDLORD

We have lived in this neighbourhood over 10 years our kids go to the local school:
Now the landlord is harassing us for payment of his Metrowater Ltd. account.

We have two jobs to make ends meet now,  and moving is not an option.

The outside tap constantly drips and the landlord wants me to pay for the excess water charges.

We rent, why should we pay for water going in and out.

Metrowater Ltd. are threatening us with water disconnection, we have not received their account.

How can they  (Metrowater) evict us, we have always paid our rent on time?

We have to pay our entire water bill and if we don't pay, our landlord said she would evict us. The water bill costs us $900.00 per year. We have 2 small children and are very careful how much we use and the thing that annoys us the most is as a tenant 75% of our Metrowater bill pays for sewer and water pipes, which the landowners will always own, it is so unfair

Why should the common man have to pay big dollars to the affluent Or effluent businessmen who talk as if they are full of knowledge but have No expereince themselves
When one pays for services to ones castle whether at new construction or by purchasing an existing structure it is paid for...period. We will not be held liable for a group of councillors literally cocking up the system and having no experience of LIFE NATURE and REALITY.
Maybe they should charge car owners for Carbon Monoxide Pollution for the amount of money and resources spent on damaging the ozone

If water is charged separately on a basis of usage and disposal then of course those who use dispose it should pay for it. That’s not unfair.
It is surely a question of what’s a reasonable and fair basis on which charges should be made.
There must be figures somewhere comparing water supply maintenance, administration costs over a few years before the creation of Metrowater with current figures for the same thing.
All figures would need to be brought to a base year-that is inflation has been accounted for.
Allowance would also need to have been made for necessary capital works undertaken, but at least such figures should give a clear idea if there has been any change to the base cost in our water charges.
I guess they are available somewhere, anyone know where?
How else have the council been able to justify the continued existence of Metrowater unless there are agendas to which we are not privy.
I am dammed if I can see why my water rates have gone up 4 fold since the creation of Metrowater.

Have previous councils neglected pressing capital work as I believe has happened in Gisborne and accounts for their inordinately high rates or is there a genuine need for such water cost increase.
Hope we are not being duped into creating, feeding yet another bunch of plausible sounding fat cats in our society.

Lets put up water tanks on our sections and run the waste grey water over the lawns and gardens used to do that when I was a kid in the country all we could be smacked for would be toilet water usage then. But I suppose there are even laws preventing this

WE ONLY USE WATER FOR CUPS OF TEA AND TOILET FLUSHING

I have had 60% reduction from Metrowater on wastewater charges after a long battle.

I AM CONCERNED WITH THE $550.00 CHARGE BEFORE I TURN A TAP ON.

I have a small shop I use for storage, only one unit of water is registered on the meter for this year I have over $900.00 bill from Metrowater.

THE METER SAYS HOW MUCH YOU USE NOT THE PIPE SIZE

What about the penalties there are always penalties,

I can not put money aside to cover future bills,

There is not enough to cover present bills!
I have never been in trouble with the law in my life!
I have never owed anybody a halfpenny in my life!
I have already paid for the pipes and now they want it again!

I have elderly sick people in the house this causes extra washing every day.
“Hospitals do not have beds for us”.

“THE ONLY JOY I HAVE IN MY DECLINE YEARS IS MY GARDEN”
Now I am having to seriously think of letting it go completely – I can not afford to water it!

“I am being forced to let my beautiful garden go”.

NONE OF THE WATER ON MY GARDEN GOES DOES THE WASTEWATER PIPES.
My veggie garden is my food source, and my flowers were always admired.

LOW INCOME FAMILIES

WORK AND INCOME DO NOT RECOGNISE METROWATER

Charges in their Accommodation Supplement assessment.

Water charges have increased beyond what I can financially manage

I used to receive $200.00 per year rebate from Auckland City Council; now water is separated out of rates I am $200.00 per year worse off.

My water rates were around $100.00 for the year now I have to find around $700.00.

The family water bill is no longer considered a necessary cost of living. “Water is essential for life”.

I can not afford to turn on the taps to bath my children since Metrowater bills began arriving

If I do not pay Metrowater's account they threaten to cut off my water, then I am forced to leave my  house.

We had a forced mortgagee sale and got nothing, Metrowater Ltd hounded us to repay weekly or we could not get water again.

I have to choose between putting food on the table and paying this water bill.

We have recalculated our water bill on the new tariff, our bill went up to 176.00 from 126.00 all they have done is put our water charges up by 40%.
What’s going on with you idiots at the council?
Where do you get off by putting our water up by this totally unreasonable amount?

WE ARE BRING CHARGED COMMERCIAL RATES

We are recognized as a non-profit organisation by Government; yet we are being charged commercial rates by Metrowater Ltd.

We only use a little water for tea at our monthly meeting yet our bill is over $800.00 for the year.

METROWATER LTD ACCOUNT SHOULD BE ON USAGE NOT THE SIZE OF THE PIPE

NO GRANTS TO SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN INCREASED TO COVER INFLATED WATER CHARGES

All running costs come from Operations Grants.

Schools are having to find up to $5000.00 to cover water charges this is severely affecting the education programme.

Children from lower socio economic areas are already going without food in the home where these sudden unrestrained water charges can not be budgeted for; these children are a serious concern to teachers.
