For the past two years, we in Auckland have been closely following Bolivian
water and social issues, and have twice protested at your Consulate's
address in Auckland. Now we perceive your government to be again preparing
to act against the interests of the Bolivian people, by legislating for
water exports from Potosi.Should this folly proceed, corporate interests will again take precedence
over the
citizens. We believe that this further commodification of Bolivian water
will also have negative social and environmental ramifications that will be
felt internationally. In particular, it will strengthen the hand of the
FTAA and GATS promoters - chiefly the World Bank, WTO and capitalist
interests of the United States of America.We strongly urge you to abandon this anti-social plan and legislative
efforts designed to 'legalise' and justify your government's outrageous
actions.Finally, we request that your Consul General in Auckland makes it a
priority to receive a deputation from our group, to discuss this matter in
a formal meeting.Yours faithfully,
